I don’t claim to have all the answers. I am just a simple girl who asks God to teach me how to love deeply every day and how to bring healing to my tiny world.
When Jesus walked this earth, He was physically and spiritually MOVED with a compassion that transcended borders, race, rules, hatred, and long held traditions. All I can do right now is ask Him to show me what it looks like to love like He loved and be moved like He was moved. The one thing I am completely sure of is that He is the fix! As we set our eyes on Him for strategies, we will see this nation and world conform to love rather than hate.
A few days ago, I was impressed to buy a $10 Starbucks card, give it to the cashier, and have them given it to the next person who said they were having a rough day. She was completely overwhelmed and excited and said that she was going to do the same exact thing tomorrow. That was so cool! Then, as I walked to my bus in NYC, God moved me to stop 3 separate police officers, bless them for their service, and thank them for keeping the peace in this city. They were each completely shocked and taken back. By their expression, I could tell this wasn’t a common occurrence in Times Square. As you can imagine, my tears flowed all the way home.
God is love. We were created in His image. Love is not just what we do. Love is who we are. Human life will never be respected outside of love and compassion. Every step we take to love changes the atmosphere!
Here is my prayer for this season:
Jesus, we need a miracle of compassion in our nation and world where wisdom, discernment, and love dictate every action and where unstable humans, filled with hatred and murder, encounter a peace that brings transformation. I pray for the defenders of the PEACE to rise up in Jesus’ name!
We lean into Your heart that heals and brings change. We will not live lives driven by fear and terror. Thank You for strategies that transcend our now. God, we pray for a love revolution that is more than a thought. We refuse to be party to an “us vs them” mentality. We refuse to live offended. We refuse to live in fear and confusion, and we will not partner with hated.
God, we trust You to defend us. We trust the power of Your love to heal our land and move in the hearts and lives of people. We will stay in hope and expectation that compassion will unlock signs and wonders, and we will see miracles happen in the lives of those who are hurting today.
